OHS Induction

Client:

Chobani

Date:

Aug 2025

Tool:

Storyline

Chobani needed to reimagine their Occupational Health and Safety induction to make safety training practical, engaging, and relevant across diverse roles. We created a 30-minute interactive course with scenario-driven learning, personalised elements, and realistic emergency simulations to build decision-making skills and a stronger safety culture.

Client Brief:

The Chobani team required a complete revamp of their Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) induction to better engage new and existing employees across production, warehouse, logistics, and office teams.

The goal was to:

  • Simplify and communicate critical OHS procedures effectively.

  • Move away from static compliance modules toward real-life scenario learning that fosters decision-making skills.

  • Improve understanding of hazard escalation processes and emergency responses.

  • Encourage behavioural ownership of workplace safety.

The Challenges:
  • Site-Specific Hazards: Each area of the Chobani site present unique risks. We focused on tailoring content to help learners clearly understand the hazards specific to their work environment.

  • Diverse Roles, Relevant Scenarios: With learners ranging from warehouse staff to office staff, we designed varied scenarios that felt relatable across roles and responsibilities.

  • Approachable Yet Professional Tone: The language was crafted to be clear and friendly while maintaining the authority and seriousness required for safety training.

  • Playful Yet Purposeful Design: Kept the theme playful and on-brand, while ensuring the scenarios reflected real risks and consequences.

The Process:

We defined key safety priorities by working closely with Chobani team to identify the most critical learning objectives. We then kicked off the project with workshop sessions to explore how Occupational Health and Safety is practiced day-to-day at Chobani. From there, we developed a detailed Course Outline that served as the foundation for the entire learning experience. At this stage, we mapped out high-level concepts, interactive activities, assessment ideas, learning outcomes, and identified any available supporting materials.

The visual direction was explored early during the course outline stage and developed alongside the storyboard. This parallel process helped ensure that the content and design complemented each other—allowing me to shape both the learning material and how it would visually come to life.

During the storyboard development, we built realistic scenarios using relatable characters and common site hazards to drive engagement and relevance. Interactive learning is integrated through timed decision points, gamified challenges, and instant feedback loops. The storyboard and mock up were constantly refined based on feedback from the Chobani team, ensuring clarity and inclusivity.

The Outcome:

The result is a 30-minute interactive experience built in Storyline:

  • Learners are welcomed with a personalised experience—by entering their name at the start, it appears throughout the course for added engagement.

  • A cohesive visual style ties everything together: textured paper elements and safety-themed colors create a vintage-inspired look, nodding to the traditional thick company policy documents.

  • Realistic scenario-based questions encourage learners to think critically and apply what they’ve learned.

  • Subtle sound effects on hovers and feedback elements enhance interactivity and create a sense of urgency during emergency situations.

  • The use of real-life photography grounds the learning in reality, reinforcing that occupational health and safety isn’t theoretical—it has real-world consequences.
